Amazon Enters into shipping Industry
From the "world¡¯s largest bookstore" to "the world¡¯s biggest online retailer", from good retailing to cloud computing, from the truck, cargo aircraft to UAV(Unmanned Aerial Vehicle)delivery, it seems to be unable to stop the pace of expansion for Amazon. And the container ship of "Amazon shipping company" also will sail soon.
It is reported that Amazon China has submitted an application to Federal Maritime Commission to become a shipping agent recently. Amazon China will be able to provide shipping services to other companies after approval, which means that the Amazon enters into shipping industry.
The United States Federal Maritime Commission said, there is a company called "Beijing Century Joyo Courier Service" have "Amazon China", "Amazon.CN" and "Amazon global logistics Chinese" business in its shipping agency services registration list, the registration was filed in 9th November last year, and was approved on the same month of 13th. The company registered for the first time.
It is worth noting that the application for the license is not by Amazon¡¯s U.S. headquarters, but one of its subsidiaries, Beijing Century Joyo Courier Service. Amazon bought China¡¯s online retail business joyo in 2004 and reorganized it into Amazon China, From the registration status, Amazon plans to transport Chinese goods and containers overseas. Insiders said that, Amazon may purchase goods in China, and shipped back to the USA to reduce the cost of goods in the future.
Analysts said that it means Chinese factory can directly sale products to U.S. consumers through Amazon, meanwhile expand its logistics business, not only reduce costs for the retail business, but also provide third party logistics services to other industries.
